The word “family”

Last week, once being interviewed for a video we made for KMS, I was asked to say one word that I like the most about KMS? Immediately, I popped out the word “family”. And also immediately, the guy responded that if I can pick another word.

Disappointedly, I told him that “So, I am one of the co-founders of the company 9 years ago. And now I cannot pick a word for KMS. For me, it is all about family, friendship?”

“Friendship, can you use that word?” suggested by the guy. I accepted to say that word 2-3 times to finish the filming. But I did keep it in my mind that I really wanted the “family” word as the most important and as the most pride I have with KMS thus far.

Later on, I found out “family” had been used by many other people before my video capturing on that day. And that was the reason the guy wouldn’t want me to repeat the word again. What a wonderful finding!

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Ken Robinson

From the book called Finding Your Element: How to Discover Your Talents and Passions and Transform Your Life

Yes, if you can find your family at work, your second family, I’m certainly that you are in the job you love. And you don’t have to work any day afterward.

So, if your current company is not your 2nd family, find one – move on and find your family somewhere else. If you can’t move anywhere, think about how you can contribute to build your second family at current company. It need to start from you, then build it in your group. You don’t have to wait for your CEO to do that (they may not do it anyway :)). But at the same time, you can’t expect someone else to build your family for you, if you’re not part of the contribution. I believe you need to be part of it and act on it. And then, you can find more happiness and fulfillment coming to work each and everyday.
